‘Last Ditch’
From Last, to First, and back to Last…
Hosted by Ala Doble Flying Collection and Marginal Aviation
PRIVATE, INVITATIONAL ONLY event for Ala Doble guests and Marginal Aviation members.
‘Last Ditch’ is a reincarnation of sorts of a regionally popular annual antique airplane fly-in that was held in the Fall, in Minnesota of all places, in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.
Originally conceived by Marginal Aviation, its sister fly-in ‘First Ditch’ was attended by Ala Doble Flying Collection founder, Walter Bowe in the Spring of 2022 in LeSueur, Mn. Energized by the premise of, and activity during, the event, Bowe inquired if he could revive the ‘Last Ditch’ version of the fly-in, except this time during the Fall, in California, at the Ala Doble Flying Ranch. Marginal Aviation agreed to the partnership.
Now used as a crescendo to the collection’s flying season, as well as west coast region antique aircraft event void-filler, at this invite and members only event, you can expect a weekend-long, laid back atmosphere. Along with many of the collection’s aircraft being active in their own right, you will see a sky full of some of the finest, rarest, and most historic examples of flying antique/classic airplanes in existence.
